Asian Disabled Bets, or Asian Handicap in English, are more complex and more technical than the so-called bets « Traditional ». Beginners in sports betting may sometimes find it difficult to understand its meaning. That is why, in this article, we will explain to you what an Asian disability bet corresponds to, what its usefulness is and how it works. Then you will discover a summary table that will summarize the betting system Asian Handicap. And finally, we'll give you a little tip about this kind of bet. Asian bets: What is it? And what's the point?
First of all, Asian Handicap bets are unfortunately not available on betting sites regulated by the ARJEL. They are therefore not allowed in France. On the other hand, we find this kind of bet on foreign bookmakers sites like Pinnacle, Bet365 or Bwin (uk version).
What exactly is an Asian-disabled bet?
The Asian disability bet differs from the classic disability bet in that there are many more possibilities. It can take into account quarter goals (for football for example) or quarter points (for basketball, etc.).
It can be found in this form:
0, +/-0.25, +/-0.5, +/-0.35, +/-1, etc.
Or in this form:
0, +/-1/4, +/-1/2, +/-3/4, +/-1, etc.
It actually depends on the bookmaker used.
What's the point?
Imagine you just bet 100€ on « Team A wins with 2 goals of gap or + » at the side of @2,00. If Team A wins by 1 goal difference only, there are several possible outcomes. In some cases, you will:
- To be able to recover your bet in full (i.e. 100€)
- To be able to recover half of your bet (or 50€)
- To be able to recover half of your bet (or 50€+ gain on the other half (i.e. 50*2 = 100€).
Unlike the classic handicap bet where you would have lost all of your bet, you can lose less money, not lose it at all, or even win it thanks to the Asian handicap bet.
This type of bet is very useful to further secure your prognosis and it is partly thanks to it that your bankroll will increase faster over the long term. The odds are necessarily a little lower than the classic handicap, but it is an additional safety not to be overlooked.
The different betting types Asian Handicap
There are a number of them, but we will only see the main ones.
The Asian Handicap 0
The Asian Handicap 0 bet is similar to the Draw No Bet bet or « refund if match zero » in French.
Asian disability 0 allows you to ensure your back and not lose money in case a match ends in a draw.
L-Asian Handicap +/-0.25 [0; 0.5]
It is with the Asian Handicap +/-0.25 that serious things begin.
Take the example of football. Team A is favorite and has 0.25 goals behind (AH -0.25). On the contrary, Team B is not the favorite. So she set off with 0.25 goals ahead (AH +0.25).
1st case : You bet 100€ on an Asian Handicap -0.25 for Team A at @1.50.
Possible outcomes include:
- If Team A wins, your bet is fair and you take 100*1.50 = 150€
- If there is a draw, you lose half your bet, i.e. 100/2 = 50€
- If Team A loses, your bet is false and you lose all your bet, that is 100€.
2nd case : You bet 100€ on an Asian Handicap +0.25 for Team B at the score of @2.00.
Possible outcomes include:
- If Team B wins, your bet is fair and you take 100*2.00 = 200€
- If there is a draw, you recover half of your bet and cash on the other half, that is 50 + 50*2.00 = 150€
- If Team B loses, your bet is false and you lose the entire bet, that is 100€.
Asian Handicap +/-0.5
The Asian Handicap -0.5 returns exactly as if you were betting on a win of one or the other team (1 or 2).
For example, if you bet on an Asian Handicap -0.5 for Team A and she wins, your bet is good. Otherwise, your bet is false and you lose your bet.
The Asian Handicap +0.5 returns exactly the same as if you bet on a Double Chance bet for either team.
If, for example, you bet on an Asian Handicap +0.5 for Team A and she does not lose, your bet is correct. If Team A loses the game, your bet is not good and you lose your bet.
Asian Handicap +/-0.75 [0.5; 1]
This time, Team A is still a favourite, but it leaves with 0.75 goals behind (AH -0.75). Team B is therefore not favorite of the meeting. She set off with 0.75 goals ahead (AH +0.75).
1st case : You bet 100€ on an Asian Handicap -0.75 for Team A at the score of @2,00.
Possible outcomes include:
- If Team A wins with 2 goals of gap or +, your bet is right and you grab 100*2.00 = 200€
- If there is a draw, you recover half of your bet and cash on the other half, that is 50 + 50*2.00 = 150€
- If Team A loses, your bet is false and you lose all your bet, that is 100€.
2nd case : You bet 100€ on an Asian Handicap +0.75 for Team B at @1.50.
Possible outcomes include:
- If Team B wins, your bet is fair and you take 100*1.50 = 150€
- If there is a draw, you lose half your bet, i.e. 100/2 = 50€
- If Team B loses, your bet is false and you lose the entire bet, that is 100€.
The Asian Handicap +/-1
The Asian Handicap +/-1 allows you to pay back your bet in case your classic disability bet does not pass from 1 goal (to football) or d
For example, if you bet on an Asian Handicap-1 for Team A and she wins 2 goals or more, your bet is good. If Team A only wins a goal exactly, your bet is refunded. If it fails to win, your bet is incorrect and you lose your bet.
On the contrary, if you bet on an Asian +1 handicap for Team A and she doesn't lose, your bet is fair. If Team A loses a goal exactly, your bet is refunded. On the other hand, if Team A loses 2 goals or +, you lose your bet and therefore your bet.
If Asian handicap bets are not available on French bookmakers, it is possible to make your own Asian Handicap +/-1 bet and thus secure your classic handicap bet.
And many other Asian-disabled bets...
Indeed, there are many other Asian Handicap bets. For example:
+/-1.25; +/-1. 5; +/-1.75; +/-2, etc.
This follows exactly the same principle with 1 or more goals or points.
If you do not manage to visualize things, you should see more clearly with the table below.

A tip to know about Asian disability
Sometimes you may find slightly different odds for an Asian 0 disability bet and a Draw No Bet bet. And yet, these two bet types mean exactly the same thing: your bet is refunded if the game ends with a draw.
In the same way, you may meet different odds for an Asian handicap bet -0.5 and a bet on a team's dry win (1 or 2). But these two bets are again identical!
It also works for an Asian handicap bet +0.5 and a Double Chance bet. It's the same thing.
